Carving out space for years to come

When the space didn’t exist, we created one. A*FAMILY brought connection, belonging, and unapologetic pride amongst the Asian and Pacific Islander community.

BuzzFeed had a growing, diverse workforce and there was a missing space for Asian and Pacific Islander employees to find and celebrate community. This prompted the formation of A*FAMILY (formerly A*POP), the company’s first employee resource group dedicated to fostering belonging amongst Asian and Pacific Islander employees.

As a Founder and Lead of A*FAMILY, I worked alongside with the Leads team, Executive Sponsor, and the People team to produce community programming that celebrated culture, oversee logistics and operations, coordinate volunteers, and consult on business initiatives requiring cultural perspective and sensitivity.

Achievements include:

✦ A third of all U.S. BuzzFeed employees have attended in at least one A*FAMILY event
